Paul Mears III will Chair the 2012 March of Dimes Walk for Babies in Downtown Orlando on April 28th. For several years, Mears Transportation has fielded a team of walkers, raising tens of thousands of dollars to support programs in Central Florida that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. Funds also go towards research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies.
For 25 years, Mears Transportation has donated transportation to any family wishing to utilize our services from the airport and between area theme parks while staying at the Give Kids the World Village. In 2011, Mears was awarded the honor of being inducted into the “Hall of Heroes” at the village in recognition of the company’s unwavering support for the past 25 years, including nearly $200,000 in donated services in 2011 alone.
Shannon Gravitte, Vice President of Government & Community Affairs, was appointed to the Board of Directors for Give Kids the World. Give Kids the World is a non-profit organization that exists to fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids the World Village for as long as there is a need. Over 112,000 children have had their dream come true at Give Kids the World.
Roger Chapin, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for Mears Transportation, was recently appointed by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer as one of seven members to the Orlando Community Construction Committee (OCCC). The OCCC is responsible for oversight and construction of Orlando’s new $376 million Dr. Phillip’s Performing Arts Center.
Paul Mears III, President of Mears Transportation Group and Hello Florida, Inc. was recently elected “Chairman Elect” of Visit Orlando. His two year term as Chairman will be in 2013/14. With a budget of nearly $50 million, Visit Orlando is the only officially recognized sales and marketing organization for the Orlando and Orange County area. The organization is dedicated to promoting the area as the world’s greatest vacation and convention/meeting destination and provides unbiased information to travelers on all aspects of the destination.
