Long before the opening of Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World®, Universal Studios® Florida, SeaWorld® Orlando and other greater Orlando attractions, City Cab of Orlando, which later became Mears Transportation, began its Taxi Service operation in 1939.
As Orlando evolved into a major vacation, tourist, business and convention destination, we evolved our business to fulfill the needs of the millions of travelers visiting Orlando and Central Florida each year. We expanded our service offerings to luxury transportation, and charter bus service for large group transportation in the 1980s. In 1983, Mears Shuttle became the Orlando International Airport shuttle service provider.
Our company grew to ground transportation dominance through our founder Paul Mears Sr.’s vision and focus on exceeding customer expectations. Our relentless focus on Customer Service, Safety and Innovation propelled the company into its eighth decade of private passenger ground transportation in Central Florida.
Our Fleet
To support Central Florida’s growing ground transportation needs, our extensive fleet consists of over 500 taxi cabs, 250 luxury vehicles, including luxury sedans, SUVs, vans, executive vans and limousines, 250 motor coaches and 45 shuttle vans.

Advance Airplane Tracking
Our advanced airplane tracking system monitors arriving flights and pinpoints their location as they enter local airspace. This enables us to synchronize ground transportation with your air travel to ensure a timely and seamless transition. Whether you’re early, on time or delayed, Mears will be ready for your arrival.
Flexible Online Booking
Our online booking system allows you to create and manage luxury black car and shuttle transportation reservations with ease. Customers also receive automatic text message updates on their luxury vehicle’s status. Since Mears owns and operates all of our software, our system remains flexible to the ever-changing needs of the guest.
Safety and Quality
We Take Safety Very Seriously
Mears takes the responsibility for your safety seriously. Our dedicated Safety Department routinely and continuously runs motor vehicle reports and criminal background checks on our drivers. We require all drivers to complete our defensive driver program which focuses on safe driving habits. We screen and train every driver and implement standards that keep you safe.
Your safety is also the reason we employ an aggressive maintenance schedule that consistently keeps our vehicles in top performance. We have three maintenance facilities with 25 bays and more than 125 mechanics and maintenance personnel all dedicated to the proactive upkeep and repair of our fleet of over 1,000 vehicles.
The Mears standard of safety gives you the peace of mind that we’ll get you safely to your destination every time.
Regular Service Inspection
Each Mears-owned vehicle receives a mandated service inspection every 5,000 miles. Additional service level inspections are performed at pre-determined mileage intervals with the goal of replacing parts before they fail. Our motor coaches receive regular service inspections based on engine hours, mileage and type of route performed.
Maintenance doesn’t stop under the hood. Before each Mears sedan, SUV, van, limousine or bus leaves our lot, it is thoroughly washed and vacuumed in one of our two full-time car wash stations.
